National Conference of Regions organized by National Association of Regional Councils (#NARC) in Washington DC has already reached the second day.

Thrilled to be here and to experience such a warm welcome from our partners. Despite the geographical distance, our shared commitment to metropolitan and regional development bridges the gap. I’ve discovered common challenges and ways in which our counterparts address them.

Among the main issues covered:
The Economic Development Administration (#EDA)’s vision for driving economic prosperity in the United States, shared by Assistant Secretary Alejandra Y. Castillo. She explored the EDA’s strategic initiatives, innovative programs, and collaborative efforts aimed at fostering #economicdevelopment, job creation, and #community #resilience. We gained valuable insights into public-private partnerships, emerging #trends, and the EDA’s commitment to building a more #inclusive and #sustainable economy.

#Aging in Place: Navigating Housing Challenges for America’s Seniors, in a context of an unprecedented growth in the older adult population in the United States. Danielle Arigoni from the National Housing Trust explored the multifaceted aspects of housing for seniors, addressing key issues such as #affordability#accessibility, and #communitysupport.

Federal Support for a Greener and Healthier #Environment#Parks, recreation, and #green spaces create a better life for everyone by building strong, healthy, and resilient #communities. Public green spaces in urban communities, rural settings and everywhere in between advance mental and physical #health, create climate ready spaces, and support #inclusion. USDA’s Urban and Community Forestry Program and the National Recreation and Park Association are working to create vibrant communities through parks and green spaces.
