On December 5th, I represented the Federation of Metropolitan Areas in Romania (FZMAUR) at the events organized during the Mission to Romania of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD – OCDE).
My presence at this event was a great opportunity to be part of an important global dialogue regarding economic development. During my presentation in front of the representatives of OECD, I had the occasion to speak about the metropolitan areas in Romania and to underline the importance of a stronger cooperation between public authorities, to ensure a sustainable, equitable and well-managed development in metropolitan areas. Being present in discussions that shape global policies brings us closer to create tangible benefits to our local communities.
In my role as vice-president of METREX – The Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas, I reinforced this points by bringing into discussion the Manifesto for Metropolitan Partnership, launched in November at the European Parliament, through which we aim to create a greener, more just and competitive Europe.
OECD is an intergovernmental forum that focuses on identifying, disseminating, and evaluating the implementation of optimal public policies to ensure economic growth, prosperity, and sustainable development among its member states and globally. Romania’s accession to the OECD is a major goal of Romanian foreign policy.
